On Tuesday, June 1, 2010, the Memphis Hip-Hop Weekend & Expo 2010 was announced along with the launch of its interactive website and profile powered by MemphisRap.com. Memphis Hip Hop Weekend will take place September 2-5, 2010 with the Expo taking place at the Memphis Cook Convention Center in Downtown Memphis on September 3-4, 2010. Since the launch of the Memphis Hip-Hop Weekend & Expo site, officials have stated that there has been a great response in interest of the event.
"This Fall with the beginning of a new school year, this will be an opportunity not only for artists and their fans, but also sponsors to target a great demographic audience through the exhibition," states Online Media Director, Charla Littlejohn. "Our goal is to make this a significant annual event in the Mid-South, one that will link everyone up together in the Music and Entertainment business and give everyone a means to efficiently tap into the market."
The Memphis Hip-Hop Weekend & Expo will consist of a number of events which include the 'Be Heard, Be Seen Talent Show,' 'Memphis Hip-Hop Art, Ink & Fashion Show,' two days of conferences, celebrity ball games, 'Industry Meet N Greet Networking Mixer, the South In Yo Mouth Food Taster and the 'Memphis Hip-Hop Expo' which takes place over the course of two days (Sept. 3-4) and more.
According to the founder of MemphisRap.com, Hosea 'M Town' Mays, Jr., he's looking for this to be an exciting event as well as an educational and positive one.
"'Promoting Alliance Through Hip-Hop!' is the theme for this year's Memphis Hip-Hop Weekend & Expo which in-turn tells you that our goal is to promote togetherness," stated Mays.
