The retail debut of DewStop’s Fan Switches at NHS 2010 brings two awards
DewStop celebrated its retail launch May 4th at the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas by placing second in two award categories. GTR Technologies, Inc.’s DewStop Fan Switches were also a favorite among the show crowd, which included buyers, distributors, manufacturer reps, press, and other retail hardware industry professionals. “The traffic at our booth was non-stop. Everyone wanted to know more about the most effective way to monitor and control problem condensation, and everyone wanted to share their story about their kids never remembering to turn on the fan when showering, or having to shimmy across the floor to turn it on themselves. It’s a problem that hits home with everyone, and DewStop offers an easy, affordable solution,” said GTR president Tony Branham. “It was a hit for everyone who came by our booth.”
The first award, for the New Product Launch Spotlight, was open to any company who had not shown product at any trade show before, and had no pre-sells, pre-negotiations, and no exclusive deals set up at the time of the show. Award winners in this category were chosen by a panel of retailers hand-picked by the North American Retail Hardware Association. Over 40 products were nominated for this year’s launch. “The fact that our product could sit unattended in our point-of-purchase display and be recognized as an innovative, market-friendly product by such an esteemed panel of judges just reaffirms to us how well DewStop sells itself. From product development to marketing and beyond, our team is ecstatic to be recognized for their hard work,” said Branham.
The second award, for the Homewares Best in Class category, was open to all of the over 300 exhibitors with products in the Homewares division of NHS. Winners of Best in Class are evaluated on the following traits: aesthetics, differentiation/uniqueness, ability to fill consumer need, overall value, and packaging/merchandising support. Even the judges of this category are award winners, all of them being recipients of Housewares Design Awards, which recognize a retailer’s commitment to new product design, innovation, and creative merchandising and presentation. HSN, Organize.com, Amazon.com, and Ace Hardware, among others, are represented as judges for Best in Class. “Product differentiation is critical,” said Matt Dean of Amazon.com, who presented DewStop with the Silver award for its Fan Switch.
About DewStop
DewStop products contain the most advanced condensation control technology ever made. Temperature, Humidity and Dew Point information is sensed, and then processed and refined through our software, to determine a room's condensation level. For DewStop to sense dew (condensation), the room will need to show visible signs of wetness (such as steam on walls / mirrors / fixtures) attaching to surfaces. Visible steam in the air is not the problem, the problem occurs when moisture in the air becomes too heavy and the air cannot support it. The moisture then moves to surfaces (this is the dew point), triggering the DewStop sensors. The DewStop fan switch is constantly checking the air for condensation. At the right time, DewStop will turn ON the fan and run it long enough to clear the room.
DewStop (dewstop.com) has taken its Patent Pending Technology and packaged it into a single fan switch just about anyone can install. DewStop allows their customers to simply connect their new or existing fan to the DewStop switch. If DewStop senses the presence of rising condensation levels, it will automatically turn on a fan and keep it on until the condensation is no longer a concern and your room is dry. An indicator light pulsates as condensation is detected, and then stays solidly lit as the room is drying. Users can manually turn ON and OFF the fan when needed, or rely on the DewStop sensor to do the job and keep doing the job for them.
The DewStop Fan Switch comes in two models, one with the fan control (FS-100), and one with an added lighting control feature (FS-200). Each DewStop includes the screws, the wire connectors, and the manual needed for easy do-it-yourself installation. DewStop Fan Switches are covered by a one-year limited warranty. The DewStop FS-100 is priced at $59 (LIST) and the FS-200 is priced at $69 (LIST).
DewStop was designed by GTR Technologies, INC. GTR is the only company to develop software using dew point as a trigger to turn on most any fan. GTR makes this unique, complex technology easy and affordable to any homeowner, homebuilder, remodeler, or do-it-yourselfer.
