Idaho Falls, ID, United States, 2010/05/25 - Idaho Falls Veterinary Emergency Clinic (IFVEC) is the first animal hospital to provide overnight, weekend and holiday hours in Eastern Idaho. Established in 2007, the IFVEC will begin offering the new hours on May 31.

The Idaho Falls Veterinary Emergency Clinic (IFVEC) will expand its hours of operation beginning May 31, 2010. With these expanded hours, emergency care for companion animals in Eastern Idaho will now be available every evening, weekend and holiday.
Operating out of the Countryside Veterinary Hospital location in Idaho Falls, the IFVEC is a separate entity which provides critical care to injured animals during those hours when primary care veterinary practices are closed. IFVEC Board members include Dr. Shaun Merchant of Eastside Pet Clinic, Dr. Rhonda Aliah of Skyline Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Les Stone of Northgate Veterinary Hospital, Drs. Brad Francis and Nate Rolston of Countryside Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Sarah Herres of IFVEC. Collectively the board members bring more than 25 years of veterinary experience to the operation.
Launched in 2007, IFVEC has provided emergency care and continued critical care on weekends and holidays. “We are delighted to now be able to meet the demand for overnight care during the week as well” said Dr. Herres. “This is the only emergency veterinary clinic in Eastern Idaho.”
The IFVEC is staffed by local veterinarians and eight veterinary nurses. The new hours equate to four new jobs, according to Herres.
IFVEC emergency services include medical care, an on-site laboratory, radiology, surgery, and hospitalization. All records, test results and radiographs are forwarded on to the primary care veterinarian for long term follow up and care. The service considers itself an extension of the daytime veterinary practitioner to offer their clients and patients the highest level of care possible.
