Kijana Martin, Texas author of Real Life, Real Choices: A Young Adult Reference Book, will join dozens of writers in the author pavilion at the Third Annual National Black Book Festival May 21-23 in Houston, TX at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
“I call my book a reference book, however, it is anything but dull,” said Martin. “My life growing up on Chicago’s Southside is woven throughout to provide examples. I did this because I believe that young adults need perspective. They also need real information that they can relate to in order to make choices that will lead to safer, happier lives.”
For the event authors will be grouped according to genre in the authors’ pavilion where 17 different genres will be represented. Martin, who will be exhibiting in the young adult section, said, “I am honored to be one of the 12 authors chosen for this section. I look forward to the opportunity to meet people and speak about Real Life, Real Choices. This will be an excellent opportunity to connect with the book community and network as a new author with other Texas authors as well as those from out of state.”
Buyers will receive a 10% discount when purchasing Real Life, Real Choices during the event. Students can receive 15% off the cover price when they present a postcard that can be downloaded from Copious Publishing.
This Houston book event attracts a wide array of authors, publishers, book clubs, libraries and individual readers from the Southwest U.S. and nationwide. It features book signings and discussion sessions with featured authors, workshops and seminars, a spoken word poetry slam and book club giveaways.
