PSA started a new project of porting an existing iPhone application to the Android and BlackBerry platforms. The project request was received from a new customer which is a provider of advanced software solutions and value added services to mobile technology companies worldwide.
Participation of Professional Software Associates, Inc. in the CeBIT 2010 computer expo entailed increased number of requests for quotation on poring mobile applications from one platform to another. Month to month the Android platform gain popularity and plenty of customers desire to port the existing applications from the most popular in the USA iPhone platform to Android. While the Android initial release appeared 17 months ago, in October 2008, PSA started investigation and development activities on Android platform more than 2 years ago. Longstanding research into mobile technologies and in-depth device knowledge allows PSA team to port diverse mobile applications to popular mobile platforms like Symbian, Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, and J2ME.
Experience of PSA team in mobile application development led to the new customer selecting PSA to perform a project on porting an iPhone application to Android and BlackBerry platforms. The project includes specification requirements review, application design for Android and Blackberry platforms that precede the development and testing phases. The ported application will be tested on different devices and within one month a first Beta version will be delivered.
Capabilities of the ported mobile application will include capturing and transmitting a graphical code image with the phones camera. The captured image will be sent to a web service and processed with a reply. Based on the reply, the application shall be able to show a video related to the product code and an additional HTML web page with a customized web browser screen where the user can be directed to a location to purchase the product.
