Belkin International, Inc., the global leader in connectivity solutions, today announced the move of its corporate headquarters to Playa Vista, California, located on the Westside of Los Angeles. Previously situated in Compton and Hollywood, CA, Belkin has now merged employees from both offices under one roof.
Occupying over 150,000 square feet in two connected buildings at the new Campus at Playa Vista development, the new office houses Belkin’s product development, R&D, design studio, sales, marketing, and administrative teams.
Together with architecture firm Gensler, Belkin aimed to create an environment that would promote cross-functional collaboration, creativity, and work-life balance. Belkin’s new office emphasizes an open floor plan filled with natural light and informal meeting spaces such as the ideation pantries and drop-in meeting rooms. The workstations feature customized ergonomic chairs, high countertops for impromptu conversations, and whiteboard surfaces conducive to collaboration. A landscaped terrace, especially suited for outdoor discussions and lunching, connects the two Belkin buildings and leads directly to the café. Inside the café sits a large communal table made of a single slab of wood, salvaged from a fallen tree; it invites people to sit down and join in the healthy fare.
Following Belkin’s intent to provide its employees with tools for work-life balance, situated across the street is a 9-acre recreation park with a basketball court, soccer field, sand volleyball court, jogging trails, and an amphitheater.
The building also speaks to Belkin’s environmental commitment with its LEED-Gold certification, one of only a few in Los Angeles that have achieved this level of certification. Key to the building’s LEED Gold certification are the amount of greenspace, daylight-sensitive lighting, cool-landscaped roofs, locally sourced building materials, and low water-consuming plumbing fixtures.
Further, each workstation is outfitted with a Belkin Conserve with Timer, a surge protector that eliminates standby power consumption by automatically turning off power outlets at each desk.
Formerly owned by legendary aviator Howard Hughes, Playa Vista was the worldwide headquarters for Hughes Aircraft and also the building site of the famous Spruce Goose aircraft.
