Raritan today introduced a new version of CommandCenter® Secure Gateway (CC-SG) software to help data center administrators manage IT equipment -- including Raritan and third-party power distribution units (PDUs) -- from a single resource management portal.
Best known for simplifying the management of heterogeneous IT environments through a unified portal, CC-SG enables administrators to access, diagnose and control all types of IT equipment -- at the application, operating system and BIOS levels -- securely and conveniently through a browser-based screen. The new release of CC-SG, which is available starting today, provides service processor manager support and tighter integration with Raritan's Power IQ™ power and energy management software.
Through the integration with Power IQ, CC-SG enables administrators to control the power of nodes that are connected to Raritan Dominion® PX intelligent rack PDUs and third-party PDUs being managed by Power IQ – without leaving the CC-SG client. Ethernet-enabled rack PDUs from APC, Avocent, Cyber Switching, Geist, HP, MRV and Server Technology are supported. Also unveiled today is an evaluation copy of CC-SG that can be installed on a virtualized server or PC. The CC-SG evaluation version provides full functionality and supports access of up to 10 nodes and interfaces.

Other new features in CC-SG Release 4.3 include a KVM client based on Microsoft’s .NET technology – designed to meet the needs of customers that prefer a complete Windows architecture – and Windows 7 support.

From a single screen, users can view all IT assets, organize them in logical views of their choosing, and launch the best remote access and management tool for the job, including third-party tools. Accessed by logging onto a single IP address, CC-SG eliminates time-consuming multiple logins and the need to open multiple interfaces in order to reach a specific server or group of servers. From the CC-SG portal, users can easily choose the type of remote access most useful to them for the task at hand -- including in-band and out-of-band KVM, Serial, embedded or in-band software applications.
CC-SG's “neighborhood” architecture supports the access and control needs of today's enterprise -- enabling quick access and control across multiple local and/or remote data centers and to all types of IT equipment. Unlike other solutions in the market, CC-SG does not require complex database replication schemes that consume network overhead unnecessarily. It improves performance -- and eliminates single point of failure by distributing device and node access across CC-SG units within a data center, regionally or organizationally. CC-SG units can also be combined with a primary/backup implementation for redundancy.
CC-SG manages virtualized servers, physical servers, blade systems, networking equipment, rack PDUs, Raritan's Dominion KVM-over-IP switches and console servers, and equipment with embedded server management technologies, such as DRAC5 and iLO.
CommandCenter Secure Gateway 4.3 is available worldwide through Raritan's distribution channels.
