In recognition for delivering a truly innovative approach to sharing information securely, Egress Software Technologies announced today that they have been voted a finalist for the 2010 SC Innovation Award. The new software, Egress Switch, completely changes the way organisations or individuals collaborate securely by removing un-necessary complication or any need for costly infrastructure.

Research indicates that the percent of data breaches attributed to third parties has now grown to 36 percent and are 20% more costly to recover. In either instance, our customers have made their needs perfectly clear and this innovative technology paves the way for a new generation of secure data exchange.”
Egress Switch allows an information owner to package sensitive information using strong AES 256-bit encryption and to send it to a recipient using familiar methods such as email, CD/DVD, USB, FTP, or uploaded to the Web. The owner can then set or change security policies independent of the package through a service in the cloud. Security policies can include authorising recipients and limiting recipient use of protected information. Changes to security policies can be made in real time, even after the information is sent or shared. This allows a user to “pull information back” if you suspect that your data has been lost or mishandled.
Egress Switch also offers a complete view of when the information recipient has opened or used the shared information, as well as unauthorised access attempts, providing an important audit trail. The owner can then easily track activity of their shared information through logs arranged by package or recipient.
