There's a new tool available for people who want to read blogs, but don't know how to start. It's called Bloggator and over 20,000 people signed up for a free account in its first two weeks of operation.
"Bloggator is aimed at people who don't know how to - or don't want to take the time to - find blogs and figure out how the blogosphere works," says Jeffrey Smith, Bloggator's founder.
"Our prebuilt categories of blogs enable a new user to start reading blogs that interest him or her in minutes, with almost no learning curve."
This categorization offers other benefits to blog readers, as well.
Other online blog aggregators allow anyone to add any blog to their database. While this creates databases of millions of blogs, it also creates huge lists of blogs that aren't worth reading. For every great blog, there are dozens of free sites masquerading as relevant blogs and hundreds of blogs that haven't been updated in months, or even years.
By contrast, Bloggator's editors choose blogs that fit their users' interests.
Smith feels this is a way to put a more human face on the blog world.
"I tried every blog directory I could find before building this, and finding a feed worth reading was like finding a needle in a haystack," says Smith. "And that can make new users give up before they experience the fun of reading blogs everyday."
Bloggator was the first online aggregator to organize pre-selected blogs into categories. It provides users with access to tens of thousands of blogs, updated throughout the day. A personal blog is also provided for each user.
Key Features:
- Pre-built categories of blogfeeds;
- Blog Search box creates dynamically-updated custom blogfeeds;
- Blogs are updated throughout the day;
- A click to a headline takes the user to blog that published the story;
- Over 10,000 blogs indexed, growing at a rate of over 100 per day;
- Quicklinks provide easy access to multiple blogfeeds;
- Personal blog for each user.
