A tweetup, according to Macmillan Dictionary, is a meeting of two or more people who know each other through the Twitter short messaging service or a micro-blogging site where users expresses their thoughts in less than 140 characters.
This year, the Singapore Airshow creates history by hosting the world’s first tweetup on a Bombardier Q400 turboprop airliner. Sponsored by Bombardier, this tweetup will take place amidst the horizon of world-class aircrafts exhibited at the Singapore Airshow. Members of this tweetup will be able to catch a glimpse of Asia’s biggest aviation event before the gates open to public on 6 February 2010.
Organised by SimpliFlying (simpliflying.com), an award-winning airline branding blog, and Penn Olson, a fast-growing social media blog, this tweetupwill include a free beer and food being served by a flight attendant in the Bombardier Q400 plane,so participants can tweet their thoughts about the aircraft. There will also be tours of the Bombardier Business Jet G5000, which sells for over US$46million a piece.
“Technology has allowed us to expand the online communities across borders. Through this tweetup, we want to celebrate the growth of the aviation community, whether you are a traveller or airline executive,” says Shashank Nigam, chief executive of SimpliFlying, an international airline branding consultancy firm.
This tweetup will be joined by 25, of which five will be winners of the online contest where aviation fans can create a video or picture to express their desires to join the tweetup.
All Media persons are cordially invited to join in the fun.
