Bioalma announced today the release of a novoseek’s API that will allow a customized interaction with the company’s biomedical search engine. Novoseek’s free-of-charge API will enable the user to integrate novoseek-derived information in different data workflows so as to extract key biomedical concept annotations on scientific texts. Based on this API, Bioalma has also developed a gadget platform that will easily help Web developers enrich the content on their pages.
“This API will let the bioinformatians and web developers integrate novoseek’s information how and where they want it”, says Ramon Alonso-Allende, director of marketing and business development at Bioalma. “In addition, with our new gadget platform anyone can take advantage of novoseek’s technology and easily add contents in their web sites. They can have a list of their own publications or the publications on their favorite author integrated in their blog, it being automatically updated”.
The API is free and at this moment it has restrictions on usage of up to 300 petitions per day. The only request for its use is an API key that should be used both for programming or using of the gadget builder platform.
Novoseek (novoseek.com) offers a powerful alternative to traditional information retrieval systems such as PubMed, and is aimed at a variety of audiences within the biomedical community, including students, medical doctors, medical librarians and biomedical scientists and researchers. Since its introduction in February 2009, Bioalma (bioalma.com) has added significant functionality to novoseek, including the ability to search grant award information from entities such as the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP), as well as the ability to conduct full-text searches in all Open Access journals housed in PubMed Central.
