Mirasys Ltd, a leading provider of open platform digital CCTV and video surveillance solutions, today announced the industry’s first open Video Content Analysis (VCA) platform. Now, customers can effortlessly select any VCA solution that addresses their specific surveillance security needs without any complex and costly infrastructural changes to the underlying video management solution, and without restriction by the video management vendors’ architecture and business objectives.
As a bidirectional interface, the Open VCA Platform enables VCA solutions to easily access raw image data from both the Mirasys platform and the CCTV hardware. The platform is also able to collect metadata created by those VCA algorithms into a distributed master database that can be intelligently searched either for realtime or playback purposes. By communicating metadata across these components, the Open Platform will manage the details of object descriptions and movements from the VCA to the VMS, as well as having the capability to trigger alarms and rules when necessary.
In addition, the Open VCA Platform allows customers the flexibility to use either Analogue or IP cameras, or even both, for analysis purposes and can also extend to support camera based analysis algorithms. This complete visual security solution simplifies data transfer and further automates CCTV monitoring for the end user.
“The Mirasys Open Platform has been designed to enable customers to choose the best possible VCA algorithms for any purpose. Sometimes this may mean opting for solutions from several different providers, and Mirasys can now support this from one coherent management platform which guarantees simple installation,” explained Jukka Riivari, CEO, Mirasys. “By offering the industry’s first fully open VCA platform, Mirasys is well positioned to enable cost effective integration with any third party VCA software, which allows customers flexibility and choice. With more and more businesses looking to update older systems to IP solutions, the Open VCA Platform will help to simplify this change and automate an otherwise unnecessarily complex process.”
The ability to integrate with various VCA software providers will enable customers to easily implement VCA software algorithms depending on the businesses individual needs. This means that facial recognition software, object tracking and RFID Tracking software can all seamlessly work alongside Mirasys recorders without any necessary changes to the Video Management System itself.
Mirasys’ commitment to compatibility was demonstrated in 2009 by a drive to support CCTV camera hardware, which led to the availability of over 500 camera models with the Mirasys platform. Now, in 2010, the Mirasys Open Platform is driving this same effort within the VCA solution market to ensure Mirasys will be the platform of choice for new and emerging VCA technologies. The platform is available immediately for VCA solution partners and pilot customers and generally for production use in Q2 2010.
