Rijeka, Croatia, 2010/01/19 - In January 2010, Sciyo's peer reviewed scholarly publications crossed a landmark of one million downloads. Although the first publications date back to 2004, the download counter is in use since November 2008 - Sciyo.com.
To this date, Sciyo has published over 3000 scientific articles which includes both articles in its three journal titles and book chapters in peer reviewed monographs. All publications are available under the open access label and Creative Commons Attribution Licence, which results in their increased visibility and download rates.
In order to boost the number of downloads, each article is equipped with social sharing features. Also, authors are given the option of extending their work with multimedia as means of increasing their potential audience.
In 2010, Sciyo expects a rapid growth of its publishing platform, both in terms of increased visibility and the number of publications. The number of downloads is expected to grow parallel to that, which is of special interest to authors of book chapters who receive royalties based on the number of downloads of their publication.
"Impact of a piece of scholarly literature depends largely on its readership. As an open access publisher, we acknowledge that fact and work towards enabling our authors the widest possible dissemination of their work among the relevant audience," said managing director of Sciyo, Vedran Kordić.
Sciyo (sciyo.com) is an open access publisher providing free online access to peer reviewed scientific books and journals, as well as a collection of science-related online videos.
All scientific literature available at sciyo.com is free to view, download, copy, print and share.
