Albuquerque, NM, United States, 2010/01/11 - By collaborating with local government entities, businesses, the travel industry and news agencies, APPCityLife is shaking up the way mobile city guides interact with locals and tourists in their new iPhone App APPCityLife.
On Wednesday, January 13, the APPCityLife™ iPhone City Guide App will be available for free download through the Apple App Store. Locals and tourists will have at their fingertips everything about living, working and playing in Albuquerque, the premiere city featured on the app. APPCityLife™, Inc. President Lisa Abeyta says that additional New Mexico cities will soon be available within the app. “We expect to have Santa Fe CityLife™ and Taos CityLife™ within the app early this year. After that we will begin our push into cities nationwide. It is exciting to have Albuquerque the hub of all of this, both as our home office and as the initial city to launch in the app.”
By collaborating with several local government agencies, businesses, media agencies and the travel industry, APPCityLife™, Inc. (appcitylife.com) has provided a unique aggregate of such items as local news, events, and resources such as the informational tweets of the Albuquerque Police Department and Public Service of New Mexico. “We provide everything from mapped directions and hours for local urgent care facilities and public schools,” says Abeyta. “We created this app to be a fingertip tool with all of the information locals want for their everyday life, and in doing so, we’ve also created a tourist-friendly city guide in the process.”
The app will also feature useful interaction between local businesses and app users. “Instead of the tremendously annoying pop-up ads, we created a platform for interaction between the local business community and their consumers,” says Abeyta. “From the mom and pop restaurant displaying a menu to major players creating their own content section within the iPhone app, we wanted the content to be useful for both advertisers and consumers.”
“One of the items we are most excited about is the For Sale section,“ says Abeyta. “Because of the wide array of tools within the iPhone, we asked ourselves,‘Why not put these tools to use for anyone wanting to get the word out about his non-profit event?’. To that end, we’ve created a section where locals can list everything from their home for sale to a weekend yard sale. Imagine not only getting to describe the sale’s items. With this app, we can now map it right to the front door and even provide a link to a flickr account if people want to provide a photo of an item for sale.”
Abeyta says that she expects that the app will look very different a year from now. “We’ll have several cities housed within the app by that time, all accessible from the initial download, and we will continue to add new content to the Albuquerque CityLife section. We are currently in talks with several entities to create even more dynamic, useful tools within the app.”
