NewswireTODAY - /newswire/ - Cedar Rapids, IA, United States, 2010/01/07 - VoIPcare has received commitments from the appropriate combination of participants to go forward with the development of qMetrix for Transportation. qMetrix has been designed to help reduce in-transit damage of paper shipped via rail.

VoIPcare Technology today announced plans to proceed with pilot testing of the qMetrix for Transportation solution designed to help reduce instances of in-transit damage to rolls of paper. The system has been designed in collaboration with members of the Shipping, Receiving and Warehousing subcommittee of the Technical Association of the Paper and Packaging Industry (TAPPI). Participating companies include five railroads, seven mills, two printers and one publisher.

Detailed design reviews will be conducted with the pilot participants early this month. Following the design reviews the final design document will be published. Development will start no later than the end of January 2010 with a goal of starting the pilot project by the first of May 2010. The official kick off of the six-month pilot project will be at the TAPPI SRW meeting that will be held in Memphis, TN, in April of 2010. Following the pilot study, a detailed review will be conducted by the participants.
