NewswireTODAY - /newswire/ - Rotterdam, Netherlands, 2010/01/05 - VolkerBrooks has recently completed an order from BAM Nuttall Limited for the design, manufacture and hire of special feature formwork for a road bridge scheme being undertaking on a major regeneration project in the east end of London.

The designers of the new reinforced concrete bridge abutment structure had specified a specialised high quality finish to exposed concrete surfaces and the works were to be built to a limited timescale. This resulted in BAM Nuttall calling on the services of VolkerBrooks who are highly skilled at designing and manufacturing economic bespoke formwork schemes. VolkerBrooks had previously demonstrated its capabilities to the client in achieving exacting formwork design and production standards which provided confidence that VolkerBrooks would deliver a scheme to the project team's requirements.

Fabrication of the formwork for the bridge abutment structure was designed and manufactured at VolkerBrooks' facilities in Morecambe, Lancashire. The formwork was supplied in pre-assembled panels ready for installation upon arrival at the construction site. All exposed concrete surfaces were to be produced with a special feature finish using the Reckli proprietary form liner system which was bonded to the face of the formwork. VolkerBrooks liaised closely with the client project team during the design process to ensure all joints and tie bolts were positioned to provide the required aesthetic finish specified by the architect.

The abutment structure was completed in early September 2009 enabling the client to install the bridge beams in line with their construction programme.
