Here is a new idea of replacing at least one ordinary socket in the room with a built-in extension cord that can be hidden in a wall when not in use. The idea is simple and based on a Rambler socket. When we decide to move any item from the socket on a distance greater than the length of its wire, we can extend the socket.
The new socket is like an ordinary one, only offers a pleasant bonus of extension. Powered by a spring the extension cord rolls up into the wall when we do not need it any more.

New extension cord mounted near a fireplace makes Christmas decorating easier. It is simple and quick to connect Christmas garland and turn on the lights on a mantel. Outdoor models allow to stretch the extension cord to a tree in front of a house, illuminate a Christmas tree and hide an extension cord in the wall after holidays.

Using such cord we can explore more interior design options, experimenting with furniture arrangements and lighting. We can seat to read anywhere in the house, not only near the socket. We don't need to rush in search of the extension cord when we decide to move a floor lamp.
