The Gift of IT (Information Technology) is a nonprofit organization seeking a 501(c)3 status. Our mission is to help minorities, women, students with disabilities, the underemployed, the unemployed, and dislocated workers obtain the skills required to compete for careers in the 21st century workforce.
"The Gift of IT is an effective way for 360° Communications, LLC to make a lasting, positive impact in the community through training, mentoring, and workforce development efforts that advance community growth and foster the quality of life", said Benita Williams, the President of 360° Communications, LLC.
The purpose of The Gift of IT is to prepare inner city, rural, and at-risk-youth, college students, the underemployed, the unemployed, and the dislocated worker for career opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and green technologies. “The digital divide goes deeper than the lack of access. It relates to the ability to adopt, understand, manage, and leverage STEM as a tool to solve problems in the workplace. When you can solve problems and develop business solutions, you increase your value,” says Williams. “The Gift of IT is committed to help improve the lives of minorities and those in need and we are excited about the opportunity to improve Ohio's workforce through our programming, training, and outreach services".
The Gift of IT is currently providing training and outreach services in Mahoning and Summit Counties . “We are devoted to being a leader in the area of STEM and green programming at a grass roots level.”
The high school and college programs give participants exposure to green and STEM career opportunities through subsidized employment. The workforce development training provides the underemployed, the unemployed, and dislocated worker with the training they need to re-enter the workforce with 21st century skills.
