Lensrentals, Inc., the largest online renter of photography equipment in the U. S., announces an agreement to acquire ZipLens, LLC, a Boston-based photography equipment rental house. Lensrentals.com is a full service photography and videography rental house located in Memphis, TN and shipping to customers throughout the United States. ZipLens is photographic rental house located in Brookline, MA specializing in Canon and Nikon photographic lenses.
Under terms of the agreement, Lensrentals will purchase the assets of ZipLens and provide service to their existing customer base. Lee Cullivan, President and CEO of ZipLens, will actively assist Lensrentals with the transition during the first half of 2010. ZipLens online store will incorporated into Lensrentals system by the end of 2009, although ZipLens will continue to fulfill current orders during the transition period. The acquisition is expected to be complete during the first quarter of 2010.
LensRentals.com.com and ZipLens.com were two of the first companies to allow photographers to rent equipment online for delivery to their location, anywhere in the United States. The two companies have worked together for several years, assisting each other in fulfilling large orders and providing inventory assistance. The acquisition will allow Lensrentals to further expand its customer base and allow Ziplens’ customers access to a broader range of photography and videography equipment. Because of their close affiliation and similar business models, they expect the merger of their services to be very smooth.
