Healthy Chats LLC announces public seminar dates for their Healthy Chats for Girls™ mother and daughter seminars.
The Healthy Chats for Girls™ seminars, designed for mothers/guardians to attend with their 9 to 12 year old daughters, provide a sensitive-yet-fun afternoon of preteen-appropriate information covering body changes, menstruation, and birth and conception. Often evoking some lighthearted giggles, Dr. Chrystal de Freitas' seminar sets a solid foundation for open discussions between the tweens and their parents in the future. The presentations are suited for those adults confident about discussing the topic, as well as ones who have trepidations. Whether a parent is nervous about starting the conversation, unsure of all the details to present their child and how, or would like the added benefit of an experienced pediatrician reviewing the information and answering questions, everything is thoroughly addressed in a casual setting that both parents and children find comfortable.
Public seminars are scheduled to be held at the Scripps Mende Well Being Center in La Jolla on Sundays December 6, 2009, February 28, May 16, August 15, and October 3, 2010. The fee for the 2-1/2+ hour seminar is $60 per mother-daughter pair, plus $30 each for additional daughter or family member. Every girl attending receives a gift bag with product samples, a pad purse and other tween-friendly items. Space is limited to 12 mother-daughter pairs (24 individuals) total, so it is advised to register early.
Since 1993, Healthy Chats has been helping parents share information with their children about puberty, menstruation, and sex. Healthy Chats founder Dr. Chrystal de Freitas, who is in private practice at Carmel Valley Pediatrics, leads the Healthy Chats for Girls™ seminars. A physician for 25 years and member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. de Freitas is passionate about parents taking responsibility for educating their children through on-going discussions about their bodies and all the changes that come with puberty. Over the years, she has presented hundreds of these seminars to private groups, Girl Scout Troops, and schools.
