BookRenter.com, the leading online textbook rental site, today announced two executive additions: Michael Geller as Vice President of Marketing and Justin McCarthy as Vice President of Engineering. This growth of the executive leadership team demonstrates BookRenter's momentum and follows its recent funding by prominent Silicon Valley venture firms. Overall, the company has grown 300 percent year-over-year, and since its inception in 2006, BookRenter has served thousands of students on more than 5,000 campuses across the country.
For more than 16 years, Geller led successful high-growth, entrepreneurial ventures at both early-stage startups and large corporations. His proven experience will be an asset to BookRenter as he will be primarily responsible for all marketing initiatives. Prior to joining the BookRenter team, Geller was a co-founder of Homestead.com, which sold to Intuit in 2006, as well as an executive at Yahoo!, serving as the Vice President of Marketing and Business Operations for the broadband and mobile businesses. Most recently, Geller served as President of Tonic, Inc. a media and ecommerce startup focused on social good and effortless activism.
McCarthy brings strong product management and development skills to BookRenter as the Vice President of Engineering. His primary responsibilities will include managing the Engineering team, the Product Design team, and overseeing live site operations. These important initiatives include partner integrations, warehouse systems, e-commerce and Facebook integration. McCarthy's valuable experience comes from his most recent position at CafePress.com where he worked for five years in Engineering and Product Line management.
