Recently published reviews by PDA 24/7, Geek.com and PalmAddicts all give glowing reviews to Electric Pocket’s four key Palm OS applications, BugMe!, PhotoDial, Ringo, and Busker MP3—and in time for the launch of the newly announced Palm Treo 700p.
BugMe! Notepad has long been Electric Pocket’s flagship application, the program allows users to quickly jot handwritten notes, create sketches and set alarms on their handheld.
“BugMe! is my note-taking, alarm sounding, voice recorder, all-in-one tool,” exclaimed Tracy Fulce, a reviewer with PDA 24/7. “I can write in my own handwriting, draw, and import photos using BugMe! As if that were not enough, I can send my works of art by email, Bluetooth or Infrared.”
PhotoDial is a speed dial application for Treo smartphones or Bluetooth-enabled PDAs that enables users to place photographs of their most commonly dialed contacts directly on the Applications Launcher. By enabling users to dial numbers with a single tap on a photo or other image from the Applications screen of their handheld, PhotoDial provides easy access to commonly dialed numbers and increases the personalization options of smartphones.
Matt Miller of Geek.com describes the speed dial capabilities of PhotoDial as “quite handy if you often call a small, regular group of people.” He also enjoys another capability that gives Palm OS Treo users a similar feature on the Treo 700w (the Windows Mobile version of the Treo): “With PhotoDial installed you can quickly perform a Google search. After tapping Find or selecting the option from the menu, you enter your search term and tap OK to launch the Google search.”
Two reviewers with the popular PalmAddicts blog took their turn with Electric Pocket’s Ringo Pro and Busker MP3.
Ringo has long been the best selling ringtone manager for Treo-brand smartphones, with features such as playing MP3 tunes as ringtones, assigning ringtones to individual callers or groups of callers, composing ringtones with Ringo’s included keyboard, and wirelessly seeking and finding Album Art on the Internet to display while tunes are played.
With Ringo installed on his Treo, “I was able to easily assign ringtones not only to calls but also for SMS – a nice feature,” said TjL, a PalmAddicts Associate Writer. “There’s also a Ringtone Mixer for those who like to make their own. Now that’s cool!”
Busker enables Palm OS 5.x users to play MP3 tunes stored on a SD card and features a bold, bright and easy-to-use interface that provides users with the fastest way available to access their tunes list and play favorite songs.
“Busker from Electric Pocket is a MP3 player that sets itself out from the crowd,” said PalmAddict’s Dominic Hewett. Mr. Hewett really enjoys the QuickMix feature of Busker: “QuickMix gives me with one tap of an icon a play list of random songs on my LifeDrive, which I like a lot since I am the type of person who can never decide what I fancy listening to!”
