Today at a global business conference entitled Sustainability Stakeholder Engagement, a new tool for assessing companies' work with their wider constituencies was unveiled.
A benchmarking framework called the Stakeholder Score, the new diagnostic tool is the result of a multiyear project on best practices in the field. This framework provides a means of evaluating companies’ stakeholder engagement and reporting practices, including metrics for comparing companies’ methods of stakeholder engagement.
"Companies know that listening to their customers, nonprofits, and other stakeholders is important, but it's not always clear how to do this well. In response to this need, we're excited to release the Stakeholder Score after a year-long validation process," commented Corinna Kester, author of the tool.
"We see more and more Fortune 500 and leading companies explicitly engaging with environmental organizations and a wide range of other stakeholders. The business drivers often involve strategic issues for businesses, such as product innovation, market success and company reputation," added Jon Guice, Managing Director of Research at AltaTerra.
Corinna Kester will be presenting a comprehensive review of the value and use of the Stakeholder Score in a national web conference developed by AltaTerra Research on October 15.
