About Destination/Direction
A 60 second animation that depicts the artist's return to India after a period of fifteen years. The film explores his reactions to the many changes that have since taken place.
The journey enables the birth of renewed perspectives, encouraging a fresh understanding of heritage, language and self-identity.
Commissioned in December 2007 by Moti Roti for the 60x60 Secs international film project involving 60 artists, who each made a film 60 seconds long. The project has toured nationally in the UK, New York, Berlin, Dubai, India, Pakistan and Singapore.

About the Artist
Nirmal Singh Dhiman (nirm.co.uk) is a visual artist, illustrator and designer, who likes to make intimate, colourful and multi-faceted narrative drawings and paintings using a combination of watercolour, gouache, inks, collage, letraset, found elements, verse or prose.
Since 1996, he has been working on a visual diary drawing project with over 5,000 entries that span over 14 years - this has become a personal archive of moments, meta-content and ideas.
Alongside this he also works with various computer, photographic, animation and video based means.
Nirmal's work has been shown on BBC TV on several occasions, BBC radio and he has been approached by national newspaper to be featured in a list of British Asian newsmakers of the future who work in creative industries.
In June 2007, students throughout the UK researched and studied the Nirmal's visual diaries as the basis for their response to an AS and A-Level Art exam question based on visual diaries.
Nirmal is based in Crawley, West Sussex.
