Part of the OneChoice product line from PPG, SX1071 is a low-volatile organic compound (VOC), two-component acid etch primer designed to provide excellent adhesion and corrosion resistance to properly prepared steel and aluminum surfaces while offering fast drying. The P565-9880 primer has similar properties and is designed for use with Nexa Autocolor coatings products.

The approval comes as a result of extensive and rigorous testing and evaluation to ensure that SX1071 and P565-9880 meet GM’s demanding quality standard known as Specification GMW15406. SX1071 and P565-9880 join other GM-approved PPG products from the Global Refinish System, Deltron and Nexa Autocolor coatings lines.

SX1071 and P565-9880 are both 5.5 pounds-per-gallon VOC products, compliant with the low-VOC automotive refinish regulations in California. Similar regulations will go into effect in Canada in 2010. Both products also feature a fast-dry formula and secure adhesion to most metal substrates.
