Altia announces that Peter Abowd, its President of Worldwide Automotive, will speak at the IAA SVOX Forum 09. This conference, which will explore the future of speech technology in the automotive and mobile industries, will take place on the grounds of the 63rd International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main, Germany from September 21-22, 2009.
Altia is proud to participate in this compelling dialogue about speech technology and its future effect on automotive and mobile user interface design. As an experienced designer of automotive communication and interaction systems, Peter Abowd will lend an informed and practiced perspective with his talk, entitled “Product Development: Maintaining a User Focus”. Mr. Abowd will discuss how the key to developing a user-centered design rests in the development team’s ability to maintain a user-centered perspective throughout the product life-cycle. By positioning the user interface tool at the center of the design activity, the focal point of the tools remains on the user experience. Tools that offer both simulation and tool integration capabilities provide the connection to other system engineering and industrial design tools, allowing designers and engineers to work in a user-centered fashion while creating new products.
Before assuming his role as Altia’s President of Worldwide Automotive, Peter Abowd gained industry experience at both Visteon Corporation and Ford Motor Company. He served as Visteon’s Director of Embedded Software Development, overseeing the software development for all Audio/Infotainment, Driver Information and Climate Control products in North America and Europe. Mr. Abowd also developed Visteon's Visualization and Simulation Laboratory for cross-disciplined development of Human Machine Interfaces utilizing model-based software engineering. He has been awarded two U.S. patents including U.S. Patent 7286975, which applies to a “method for developing embedded code for system simulations and for use in a HMI”.
