Kavlico, a global business unit of Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST) has recently introduced a highly reliable dual channel pressure sensor that can measure pressures up to 4,000 PSIA or 275 Bar. The lightweight (6.5 oz. max.) aluminum housing has been designed to minimize weight; while the small footprint reduces installation time as only one sensor is now required for two measurements. With only one dual channel sensor to install vs. two single channel sensors, cabling requirements and costs are reduced resulting in a cost-effective sensing solution.

Utilizing Kavlico’s media isolated, oil-filled, piezo-resistive (PRT) sensing technology, the senor is capable of operation in harsh, flight critical environments with a typical MTBF of 300,000 hours at nominal operating temperatures. Each of the channel pressures are independent of one another, allowing the channels to be calibrated with different pressure outputs for each based upon the application-specific requirement of the aircraft platform. Burst pressure is nearly 2X the URL, and the operating temperature is -67º to +257ºF.

Operating on a supply voltage of 5 to 15 Vdc, the sensor provides a non-amplified 0-100 mV output at 10 Vdc excitation. Sensor accuracy is ±1% of full scale output (FSO) over an operating temperature range of 0 to 200ºF.

Typical applications include landing gear and control surface hydraulic systems as well as oil and fuel systems for commercial, civil/regional, and military aircraft. Custom pressure ranges and an amplified output of 0.5 to 4.5 Vdc with a power supply of 7 to 16 Vdc are available options for high volume OEM’s.
