After a long leave from the group, Baatin has returned home. Lyrically brilliant as ever and as only they can, Slum Village has once again created a collection of music that both moves your feet and soothes your soul. From their new CD "Villa Manifesto," scheduled for release September 22, 2009, Slum Village will begin their journey with their new single "Cloud 9" featuring Marsha Ambrosius (Producer: FOCUS, Executive Producer: Young RJ).
Along the journey listeners will find the unique sound of Macy Gray, featured on “Love and Misery,” and the smooth sound of Colin Munro on “FASTER.” This CD is a labor of love, with Young RJ overseeing the project, the return of “Baatin” and the single mindedness of T-3 to give fans their best. The result is one of the best albums Slum Village has ever made. Combining the talents of producers Hi-Tek, Mr. Porter, Madlib, Pete Rock, Young RJ, and FOCUS, Jared “Villa Manifesto” is sure to please.
Slum Village will be distributed digitally through IODA, one of the largest digital distributors of independent music. Commenting on their release, Adam Rabinovitz, IODA’s Vice President of Marketing, said, “Slum Village is the perfect example of how digital distribution can revive the profile of a truly great group after a long hiatus. IODA has already secured top level placements at retailers like Amazon, eMusic, MySpace and Verizon, ensuring new and old fans alike will know that Slum Village are back with one of their best records yet.”
