atrexx, a specialist provider of telecommunications and broadcast solutions via satellite, has today announced the certification of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS). This is according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008, the latest revised standard that is currently the basis of certification by the international organizations DQS and IQNet – the International Certification Network.
The Company had initially achieved certification of its QMS in 2008, according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000. This certification is vital for atrexx to deliver quantifiable and continuous quality of service as a supplier and service provider for international building corporations, governmental institutions, military units, NATO and UN forces, as well as aid organizations in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
The DQS audit team recently found that the atrexx QMS conformed to the updated DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 standard and recommended the issuance of the new corresponding certificate. atrexx is among the first companies in the industry to be certified by the latest quality standards. Alfred Hommes, the company's quality management officer, emphasized: “I am delighted that the compliant implementation of the standard has led to quality continuity that has once again been confirmed by the accredited international certification authority, DQS. This achievement motivates us to progress with our philosophy of constant improvement”.
Dipl.-Ing. Axel Laux, independent auditor with DQS, commented on the strengths of the QMS: “atrexx’ Quality Management System excels through its detailed documentation, including a detailed work flow. This enables staff to know exactly what to do in all situations. There is nothing left to chance! Moreover, atrexx has developed an excellent monitoring system, which ensures constant evaluation of the quality of the services provided. Together with the ticket system, it enables fast and efficient handling of customer requests. Finally, atrexx’ senior management is highly involved, especially in correction and prevention measures. This is very creditable!”
In this dynamic environment, to stand still would mean regression for atrexx. Therefore it is necessary to adapt the company’s QMS on an ongoing basis, to cater for new requirements. Based on the audit report, Alfred Hommes explained the potential for developing the QMS over the next 12 months: “We will evaluate the work processes with regard to efficiency and effectiveness. We will also analyze potential sources of errors by using leading analytical methods. Furthermore, we will improve the criteria of our standardized evaluation of atrexx suppliers.”
The potential for improvement is identified by the team and is internally evaluated and integrated into the continuous improvement process. Regular internal audits will take place at atrexx’ premises at least once per quarter. On these occasions, the staff’s knowledge regarding the use of quality management, error prevention, identification of improvement possibilities will be further enhanced.
The new quality management certification provides many advantages, especially for customers. Through application of the quality standard, atrexx places great emphasis on the constant improvement of product and service quality to meet customer requirements.
