Hong Kong, Central, Hong Kong, 2009/07/22 - Directors of the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour completed their AGM on Monday 20th July with ACST Chairman Michael 'Cat' Maher very satisfied with outcome of the meeting, held in Pattaya, Thailand, which concluded with the announcement of two new events.
Asian Cricket Sixes Tour Chairman Michael 'Cat' Maher was "very satisfied" with the outcome of their Annual General Meeting, held in Pattaya, Thailand from 17-20th July.
"It was a very productive 4 days, which included creative brainstorming, contributions from our regional ACST Ambassadors and Representatives, and several important strategic decisions," said 'Cat'.
"We considered a substantial number of new event initiatives and I'm pleased to report that the Board approved the creation and inclusion of two new sixes events onto the Tour, in Vietnam and Pattaya."
"Both are very attractive locations with little cricket at present, so are great places to promote our sport and have a enjoyable time doing so."
"In 2008 we worked very hard, along with our event partners the Southerners, to introduce a new tournamet to the circuit, the Thailand Sixes, which was a tremendous success and may grow into one of the most popular events on the Tour."
"That we are confident to be able to stage new events in the current world economic climate is a testament to the growing popularity of the ACST core ethos of 'friendship through cricket" and the enjoyment cricketers and their friends and family get from being at ACST tournaments. It also reflects well on our local partners at each event and their commitment to putting on a great show."
"It's important that we as a group review our performance and identify areas for improving the Tour and our events. At this year's AGM we confirmed several new, exciting initiatives aimed at enhancing our existing tournaments from which every team and official will benefit such as upgrading our central website and the creation and distribution of informative ACST 'smart packs' which will help players and teams to enjoy each tournament even more."
"It's been a busy year for the ACST and were very happy to note that 21 new teams from around the word participated at ACST tournaments during the season, which clearly demonstrates that the message is spreading."
"We're looking forward to another positive 12 months of growth for the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour and spreading the message of 'friendship through cricket," Cat concluded.
