CouthIT, one of India’s leading provider of multimedia software, today announced that it has developed optimized implementations of EVRC-B and EVRC-WB (EVRC-C) codec for real-time deployment by end customers.

EVRC-B/C, a fourth generation vocoder, has been developed as a backward compatible evolution from the Enhanced Variable Rate codec (EVRC-A). A more sophisticated coding approach allows EVRC-B to offer a voice quality equivalent to EVRC-A, but at significantly lower average coding bit rates. EVRC-C, a further enhancement to EVRC-A, incorporates a wideband voice coding option for improved voice quality. The wideband coding capabilities, however, are achieved using the same average data rate as EVRC-A.
CouthIT is well positioned to provide developed implementations of EVRC-B and EVRC-C on the TI C55x, TI C64x+, ARM9E and Cortex platforms. CouthIT is a preferred TI Third Party Network member working with Texas Instruments and a Connected Community member of ARM, providing highly efficient multimedia codecs on their processors.
