From now until July 10, 2009, the “Autographed Hounds of Broadway” make their grand debut at Christofle, located at 680 Madison Ave, in a window and store display of puppy proportions. Signed, and in some cases dressed, by the star-studded casts of Broadway’s most popular shows including Hair, West Side Story, God of Carnage, Shrek, Blithe Spirit, Billy Elliot, Wicked and South Pacific, these one-of-a-kind stuffed dogs are available for pre-bidding in Christofle’s New York boutique before they are showcased via silent auction at Broadway Barks.
There are 20 “Hounds” on display, signed by some of the biggest names in Hollywood and Broadway including Geoffrey Wright, Susan Sarandon, John Lithgow, Kristen Chenoweth, Katie Holmes, Daniel Radcliffe, James Gandolfini, Marcia Gay Harden, Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, and many, many more. All proceeds from the silent auction will be given to the Picasso Veterinary Fund.
Specifically created for the Broadway Barks silent auction, the “Hounds” will move from Christofle to Shubert Alley, where the annual star-studded dog and cat adoption event takes place. Shubert Alley is located near Times Square, between 44th and 45th Streets, just west of Broadway. Broadway Barks takes place on July 11th and runs from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Christofle, the foremost luxury purveyor of silver, has partnered with Picasso Veterinary Fund to present this unique collection of “Hounds,” World-renowned for its extensive collections of fine silver tableware, hollowware and jewelry, Christofle is a company committed to giving back on both local and national levels. The current partnership with Picasso Veterinary Fund is one of several national initiatives that partner Christofle’s stores in the US and Canada with regional charity organizations and assist them with raising funds and promoting awareness.
The Picasso Veterinary Fund, founded by Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore in 2003 and administered by the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, pays for extraordinary medical care for sick and injured dogs and cats who are brought into Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C). Without this medical care, many animals would be euthanized. Instead, these animals are transferred to other Mayor's Alliance Participating Organizations — shelters and rescue groups — that find them new homes.
In addition to the auction, Christofle will also host two special shopping days at the Madison Ave boutique in July for the Picasso Veterinary Fund where 15% of the store's sales will be donated to the organization.
