Dr. Marion D. Thorpe, Jr., US Senate Candidate in Florida, has signed the 9/12 candidates' contract to signal his support of 9 principles and 12 values that will make America a better Nation.
Dr. Thorpe is the first African-American Republican to announce a run for U.S. Senate in Florida. He supports the Sanctity of Life, and feels we need to promote and encourage small businesses. He is against amnesty for Illegal immigrants, lower taxes, and alternative energy. He wants to drop partisan agendas and do what is right for education, by teaching our children self-reliance, responsibility, and self-determination.
Thorpe's quote from his US Senate website on why he is running for U.S Senate: “I am running for U.S. Senate to fix Health Care in Florida and America! Our Nation needs common sense solutions to Health Care, the Economy, Immigration, Homeland Security, and many other issues impacting the American Dream process. You have my word that I will bring Common Sense solutions to DC.”
Dr. Thorpe will bring his extensive experience in Healthcare to help reform how it’s being run in this country.
Marion D. Thorpe, Jr. M.D., M.P.H., former Florida Agency for Health Care Administration Chief Medical Officer (CMO), officially entered the race for U.S. Senate in Florida in early January of 2009. This Senate seat is being vacated by Mel Martinez who has decided not to seek re-election in 2010.
912candidates.org believes that the Patriot Standard Should Be the American Standard and has invited representatives and candidates to sign the 9/12 contract. These candidates understand how morally significant it is to represent another human being while honoring the following 9 principles and 12 values as follows:
9 Principles:
1. America Is Good.
2. I believe in God. He is the Center of my Life.
3. I must try to be a more honest person today than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If I break the law, I must pay the penalty. Justice is blind. No one is above the law.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. There is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have. I will share it with whomever I want. Government must not force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
12 Values:
1. Honesty - 2. Reverence - 3. Hope - 4. Thrift - 5. Humility - 6. Charity - 7. Sincerity - 8. Moderation - 9. Hard Work - 10. Courage - 11. Personal Responsibility - 12. Gratitude.
