NewswireTODAY - /newswire/ - Le Bourget, France, 2009/06/16 - Visitors to the 48th International Paris Airshow, a trade event held June 15th-21st at Le Bourget airport in Paris, will have an exclusive opportunity to view a new aerospace animation sequence produced by Bal Seal Engineering, Inc.

The sequence, running just over two minutes in length, was developed by Bal Seal to demonstrate the performance of its sealing, connecting, conducting and shielding solutions. A central feature of the company’s first-ever exhibit at the biennial event, the animation will be displayed on a large, plasma television, giving attendees a unique perspective on the use of Bal Seal™ canted-coil spring and PTFE seal combinations, Bal Shield™ EMI shielding spring elements, and Bal Contact™ electrically conductive springs in five different aircraft applications.

The animation begins with a commercial jetliner in flight. The aircraft’s fuselage becomes transparent, revealing a set of four channels, or “gutters” used to hold cables in place along the interior. The gutter sections, which are spaced to afford for expansion and contraction of the fuselage caused by fluctuations in temperature and pressure, are tethered by conductive cables that are held in place with precision-engineered canted-coil™ springs.

As the animation progresses, the viewer is transported to the cabin area, where a passenger uses the touch screen on an in-flight entertainment system. Behind the screen, a data cable is shielded against electromagnetic interference (EMI) by a Bal Shield spring element.

In the cockpit segment of the animation, a critical radio unit connects to its power source using Bal Contact electrically conductive springs. The unique coil configuration and engineered deflection force of the springs ensure consistent contact, and protection against potential interruption caused by vibration and shock.

Other segments of the animation illustrate the performance of Bal Seal PTFE seal and spring combinations in a windscreen wiper motor assembly and a hydraulic pressure overflow tank within the landing gear assembly.

Steven Weijers, a Bal Seal Territory Sales Manager who helped develop the photorealistic sequence, says he thinks it will be particularly effective in the Paris exhibit setting where attendees are challenged to absorb an overwhelming amount of information about new technology and industry changes.

“International Paris Airshow is the defining event for this industry,” says Weijers, “and the people who come here are seeing and hearing so much. This new animation will cut through the noise and help visitors quickly understand how Bal Seal products can help them address challenges in ways they may never have even considered.”

Although Bal Seal will officially unveil the new animation in its exhibit (Stand C-32, Hall 6) at the International Paris Airshow, this isn’t the first time the company has used the medium to illustrate applications. Examples of its animations for automotive, medical electronics and medical device solutions can be viewed on Bal Seal's website.
