Changing Our World, a leading consulting firm serving nonprofits, foundations, and corporations, has appointed nationally-known philanthropy consultant Robert E. Carter as its Vice Chairman.
In this new role, Carter will maintain offices in Changing Our World’s New York headquarters, as well as in London, and in Sarasota, Florida. He will continue to serve in his role supervising the firm’s work in Europe with Archimede, as he has for the past two years.
“We are delighted and honored that Bob will be joining Changing Our World as Vice Chairman. He is a true leader in the sector.” said Michael Hoffman, Chairman and CEO of Changing Our World, Inc.
“I am looking forward to expanding the national reach of Changing Our World in a changed philanthropic environment” said Mr. Carter. “This is a critical and, in some ways, problematic time for the not for profit sector and today’s solutions have to reflect the new environment.”
Before joining Archimede, Carter retired as President of Ketchum, a fundraising consulting firm, after more than 25 years with the company. During his tenure, he advised some of the nation’s leading nonprofit organizations, including the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Foundation, American Red Cross, Flight 93 National Memorial, California State University, the National Park Foundation, USS Missouri Memorial Association, CARE International, USA Swimming (Olympic Team), the National Aquarium, the Smithsonian Institutions, Texas A&M, the Diocese of Wilmington and the Monterey Jazz Festival.
In addition to his client work, Carter has been a major leader in the sector. He has just served a three-year term as an Educational Partner on the Industry Advisory Council for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Additionally, Carter was appointed to the International Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Board of Directors Executive Committee, served on its Governance Task Force, and chaired the Industry Partners Council for AFP. Carter has also served on the boards of the Malcolm Parcel Foundation, the ePhilanthropy Foundation as past Chairperson, Gateway Rehabilitation Center as past Board Chairman, and until recently, the AFP Maryland Chapter, the Lacrosse USA Foundation, the Boys' Latin School of Maryland, the Giving Institute, Mote Marine Laboratory, and the Giving Institute.
Carter is currently serving on the boards of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Bradenton, Florida, the National Aquarium Board in Baltimore and the Center for Philanthropy at University of Indiana. Most recently, Carter was named to the board of PlaNet Finance, Paris, an international microfinance organization helping create economies around the world.
