SeaKey Holding, LLC, a leading service provider of marine telematics for the recreational boating market, announced today the availability of its new global roaming service. Now boaters can make way throughout the waterways of the world and enjoy many of SeaKey’s safety and security benefits previously available only in North America.
Using the SeaKey user portal, friends and family can view the location and status of the vessel as it navigates all oceans and waterways. Whenever the SeaKey system has an active cellular or satellite link, two-way messaging is enabled. Any critical alarms such as anti-theft geo-fence break are reported to the SeaKey Call Center located in Richmond, VA, where SeaKey staff alert rescue/response authorities in North America and/or prelisted family and friends.
The SeaKey system makes use of GSM cellular service and ORBCOMM’s low-Earth orbit satellite network. This combination is ideal for most marine applications, as reliable cellular service is widely available along the coastline of urban areas and in many international ports. While docked or underway in cellular coverage areas, messages and alerts are carried over any available T-Mobile cellular service partner. When offshore, or when cellular coverage is not available, messages and alarms are sent through any active satellite links.
Please visit the SeaKey website for additional product and service information.
