FreshIdeas.org, created by digital agency Mosaic Brighton, intends to encourage knowledge sharing, provide a classified advertising section for sourcing and giving away items and assist people in setting up social enterprise programmes in their area.
The website will also provide fundraising opportunities for Fresh Ideas, via brand advertising, so that the charity can sustain itself beyond its three year lottery grant which began in 2008.
“The website will help Fresh Ideas open up revenue streams, allowing it to plan for activity beyond 2010,” said Drew Griffiths, Managing Director of Mosaic Brighton. “It’s also an important tool in building the Fresh Ideas brand.”
Fresh Ideas is one of 62 projects receiving Lottery funding under the ‘Chances 4 Change’ programme. It will also run email campaigns throughout 2009 to increase knowledge of and access to healthy, local, and sustainable food, especially in disadvantaged communities.
“A key part of our work is bringing community food projects together to learn from one another,” said Louisa Greenbaum, Web Resources and Information Co-ordinator at Fresh Ideas. “To this end we have held a series of successful regional networking events, but we can’t physically cover the whole of the South East so the website gives us the tools to reach everyone we need to. Setting up a social enterprise training programme is also a key part of our agenda in the coming months and we now have an online platform to get the message across.”
