xTuple, the leader in open source enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, today announced a partnership with BitRock to enhance the speed and ease of installation of xTuple ERP. With BitRock’s powerful multi-platform installer, even non-technical users can install the free PostBooks Edition of xTuple ERP, including the open source PostgreSQL database, in minutes.
PostBooks is a completely open source, full-featured, fully-integrated accounting, ERP, and CRM system. Its user base consists of predominantly small to midsized businesses, many of which have little to no IT staff and therefore do not have the resources to undertake a complex ERP initiative. xTuple partnered with BitRock to provide a quick and easy installation process to eliminate technical barriers to even the smallest firms installing its robust open source ERP solution.

Additionally, xTuple will utilize the BitRock Network Service, which will facilitate remote support of PostBooks users by xTuple, and allow the company to continue improving PostBooks to better serve its users.

xTuple (xtuple.com) offers a number of products and services to users to of the free PostBooks Edition, including implementation assistance and training, helpdesk support, and upgrades to the commercially licensed Standard and Manufacturing Editions of xTuple ERP. PostBooks is the open source core of xTuple ERP, and the client software is exactly the same across all three Editions; upgrading to a commercial product is a simple matter of running a five-minute script against the user’s existing PostBooks database.
The new xTuple ERP installer runs on a variety of platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, and numerous distributions of the Linux operating system, including Ubuntu, Red Hat, Novell SUSE, and more. They can be downloaded on the PostBooks download site of Sourceforge.
