Aurora Strategies, Inc. is proud to announce their Premiere Sponsorship of the First Annual AID 4 Autism Atlanta Music Festival, featuring ACM Awards Nominee, “The Lost Trailers”. The event will take place at Wild Bill’s Dance Club and Concert Hall, 2075 Market Street, Duluth, Georgia on May 2, 2009.
The inspiration of Tia Severino a local autism activist, mother and singer songwriter, AID 4 Autism is an all-day event multi-genre festival music festival that begins with a Fun Family Festival from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon that is free, open to the public and includes music, games, prizes, safe treats, face painting, celebrity appearances, and more.
Many styles of music are represented, including Church music, Americana, Southern Rock, Classical, Jazz, Blues, Christian rock, Rock, and Country. There will also be a screening the documentary film – also produced by Tia – that includes interviews with doctors and other experts in the field of autism, non-profit organizations that are offering help for families, and an explanation of many available therapy options.
A special VIP Dinner will begin at 5:00 pm, followed by the Evening Concert at 7:00 pm. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by contacting us online or through Ticketmaster.
“Tia is this dynamic, talented and generous person who has a genuine passion for helping individuals and families affected by autism,” says Kellie Hetzel, Aurora’s President and CEO, and a dynamic person in her own right. “I’m so proud to know her and be a part of the very first AID 4 Autism Music Festival.”
Tia’s commitment to helping people affected with autism has recently been made more personal for her.
“Following my decision to organize AID 4 Autism, and about three months after we actually got started,” Tia explains, “my own son was diagnosed with autism. I don’t even know how to express how much more important this event has become for me.”
Other sponsors include 94.9 FM The Bull, OxyHealth, Coding Capital, Kid’s Creek Therapy, Pediatric Partners of Ponte Vedre, The Hyperbaric Therapy Center, Chipotle of Gwinnett, Launch Funding Network, The Genesis Center, EASe Games, A Deeper View, The Sabrina Saab Charity Trust, and Forte Data Systems.
Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder in America today. It affects 1:150 children; 1:88 boys; 1:38 children in Georgia. The cost for care can be prohibitive, and several non-profits help families affected by autism in the Atlanta area. Proceeds from AID 4 Autism will benefit National Autism Association, Emory Autism Center, Healing Every Autistic Life!, Talk About Curing Autism, and Heart of Sailing Foundation.
Aurora Strategies has been providing intensive interventions since 2001, and as a sponsor is also donating a full, one-year scholarship to the Aurora Day School and three summer camp scholarships.
“We are honored to be a piece of the puzzle,” says Kellie. “Nobody has all the answers, but in America we have the knowledge and the tools that make a difference. That’s not true everywhere in the world.”
In fact, Kellie has been working on a project to take the remarkably efficient programs and methodology Aurora Strategies has been using in the U.S. and replicate these same, significant results in other parts of the world.
“I have been genuinely privileged to work outside the country recently to bring essentially the same offerings we make available at the Aurora Day School in Atlanta – and they obviously translate well.”
Kellie goes on to explain that she has been working primarily with Sabrina Saab, a 28 year old woman with autism who has seen only temporary improvement in the past, but whose recent results far exceed any progress she has made previously in school or with private services.
A classically trained clarinetist, Sabrina is here in Atlanta to perform at AID 4 Autism Atlanta this weekend. In addition to Sabrina, the Matt Savage Trio and Francine Reed will be performing for the dinner show. The evening line-up features ACM Award Nominees, The Lost Trailers as well as Frankie Biggz, Spanish R&B sensation IreneB, Not Forgotten, Tia Severino and Richie Fields.
