“For a professional athlete, you would never see them passed around to an intern or assistant for the majority of the treatment session. They would spend most of the time with the physical therapist or athletic trainer in charge,” says Jacon. “So why do we think it is ok to do that in private practice? Because it is more profitable? Does that make for good quality clinical care?”
With firsthand experience at some of the top sports medicine facilities in the nation, Jacon, a former physical therapist and athletic trainer for Stanford University Sports Medicine, says the public already notices the difference at ESPT.
“When we set foot in Fremont with this business model, some people were skeptical because of the high costs involved for lease in the area and the declining reimbursement rates from many insurance payers. What we are finding is people choosing to come to us, because we are giving them more for their insurance money at ESPT,” says Jacon. “This allows us to grow to meet those costs, but still maintain the highest level of physical therapy care.”
Elite Sports Physical Therapy (espt-ca.com) is an in-network provider for most major insurance companies and accepts Medicare and worker’s compensation patients as well. For patients that prefer to pay out-of-pocket or do not have insurance, ESPT has cash rates available and will work with all individuals on payment plans for their specific circumstances.
“If the cost to the patient is the same at any other clinic, it’s a no brainer for them to pick the one that gives them the highest level of care,” states Jacon. “In fact, we often see people switch clinics to us or come to us if they feel like progress has plateaued or has been less than optimal somewhere else.
