Ron Widup, executive vice president of Shermco Industries, will present “The 2009 Edition of NFPA 70E: Changes and Enhancements” at the 2009 Iron & Steel Technology Conference and Exposition on May 5 in St. Louis, Mo.
Held May 4 – 7 by the Association for Iron and Steel Technology, AISTech 2009 will feature international technologies and technical programs from industry experts to advance the development, production and application of iron and steel. Widup’s presentation will highlight some of the significant changes made this year to the NFPA 70E as well as provide a general overview of the electrical safety requirements.
“The impact of the NFPA 70E standard is far-reaching for anyone in the steel industry who owns, operates or interacts with electrical power equipment,” said Widup. “I will be providing conference attendees all the information they need to know to comply with this year’s regulations.”
Widup is a past president of the International Electrical Testing Association, and currently holds a position on the NETA board of directors and Standards Review Council. He is a principal member of the National Fire Protection Association’s technical committee on “Electrical Safety in the Workplace” (NFPA 70E) and the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) - Code Panel 11. He is on the advisory board for the TSTC Electrical Power and Control program in Waco, Texas. Widup is also a NETA Certified Level IV Senior Test Technician, State of Texas Journeyman Electrician, a member of the IEEE Standards Association and an Inspector Member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.
