On Saturday, April 25 Bikram Yoga Charleston will host Esak Garcia for a yoga asana demonstration, discussion and beginner’s class. Esak has been practicing Bikram yoga since 1994 and became a Bikram yoga teacher in 2001. In 2003 Esak began competing in yoga asana championships and in February, 2005 he won the International Bishnu Charan Ghosh Cup, becoming the first male to win the prestigious event.
The April 25th program will be held at Bikram Yoga Charleston, 1973 Riviera Drive, Suite 2 in Seaside Farms, Mt. Pleasant. Schedule includes:
9am - 10:30am: Posture Demonstration and Discussion (the room will not be heated)
11am - 12:30am: Bikram Yoga beginner class (room will be heated to normal temperature, 105 degrees)
Demonstration and Class: $50; Class only: $30; The regular 8am and 10am classes will be cancelled on this day, April 25th.
On April 2, Craig Villani, Director of Education for Bikram Yoga Worldwide visited Bikram Yoga Charleston for advanced training. 37 students attended the evening program. Craig has an extensive background in competitive athletics, martial arts, and comparative studies; combined with his unique blend of humor, experience and discipline, he helps students transform their Bikram yoga practice, self awareness and life. Craig has assisted in certifying over 5000 Bikram instructors during his 8-year tenure as Director of Teacher Training and he’s the principal author of the recent Harper Collins Bestseller, Bikram Yoga. Conducting seminars, lectures and workshops internationally, Craig serves as Master of Ceremonies for the International Yoga Asana Championships and is a Bikram Advanced Series Teacher.
Bikram Yoga Charleston (bikramcharleston.com) is owned by David Kiser. Kiser is a graduate of Porter-Gaude, George Washington University with a B.S. in Economics and a Masters degree in Hospitality Management, and Bikram’s Teacher Training in Los Angeles in 2006. David has since joined an elite group of individuals who instruct for the founder, Bikram Choudury, at his teacher’s training. This honor is reserved for Bikram’s top 30 instructors. David teaches Bikram Yoga across the United States and abroad, and spends a good deal of time getting to know his students in Charleston.
