Technology never stands still, but fortunately for Apple Macintosh users, neither do the people at Rokland.com. Now Mac users can get faster wireless Internet speeds and longer ranges with RokN generation2, the new 802.11n draft 3.0 standard USB adapter from Rokland. RokN gen2 is the latest in a long line of Mac-compatible wireless adapters from Rokland which originated with the best-selling RokAir 802.11g USB adapter in 2007.

"Whatever you do on the Internet these days, whether it's gaming, watching high quality video on Hulu, or sharing content with friends through social networking sites, you need speed and lots of it," commented Rokland spokesman Jason Opdyke. "Today's wireless speeds just aren't getting it done. Fortunately a new WiFi standard is upon us, and that is 802.11n. Apple is currently only offering 802.11n compatibility with new Macintosh systems and most Macs manufactured before last year don't have a compatible slot to upgrade the WiFi card. With The RokN gen2 anyone with a Mac, an available USB port, and OS 10.3 or later can now be upgraded to 802.11n functionality."

RokN gen2 connects directly to the USB port of any Apple Macintosh computer that has an available USB port and Mac OS version 10.3, 10.4, or 10.5 Leopard. The device is also compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, as well as a variety of Linux distributions (it is plug and play in BackTrack 3). "There's no question that the RokN is a versatile adapter," continued Opdyke. "It works on virtually any modern operating system, but has been specially designed with Mac and Linux users in mind."

To take advantage of the speeds and range offered by the 802.11n standard, users must also have an 802.11n draft compatible router or access point, and all devices connected to the network must be 802.11n standard. When used in this manner, 802.11n offers speeds up to 300 megabits per second (mbps), which is nearly six times faster than today's current standard 802.11g. "Whether you want to get movies from your Mac onto your TiVo or Apple TV, or vice versa," said Opdyke, "802.11n provides a huge advantage over 802.11g, and the RokN gen2 serves one purpose- to bring 802.11n capabilities to Mac users everywhere."

The RokN generation2 wireless USB adapter is available at Rokland.com with a special introductory price of $34.97 plus shipping.
