Match Point’s award nomination for fulfilling Cricket Scotland’s marketing and sales objectives was achieved against every event in Scotland, not just the hospitality industry.
Jim Harding, director at Match Point, was delighted with the news, “Match Point has been working in partnership with Cricket Scotland for a few years now. To gain recognition that our sales and marketing expertise in corporate hospitality has been nominated for Event Excellence is a great boost.
We’ve devoted a great deal of time and effort into raising the profile of Cricket Scotland’s corporate hospitality. Further investment into the quality and range of hospitality facilities on offer and improving the service provided has transformed this event into a luxurious hospitality experience.”
Cricket Scotland's main objective was to raise the profile of their corporate hospitality programme to a business audience in order to increase profit margins. They wanted to increase hospitality prices and guest numbers in order to maximise the opportunities available through their hospitality programme.
Match Point’s challenge was altering the business community’s perception of Cricket Scotland’s hospitality from a ‘jolly day out at the village fete’ to a valuable corporate entertaining proposition suitable for blue chip corporates. Their main objective was to deliver the volume of guests Cricket Scotland required in order to meet profit forecasts.
In the 2008 Scotland v England ODI, the 1300-strong corporate audience made up 35% of the total audience spectators, raising both the profile of Cricket Scotland’s hospitality but also of Cricket Scotland and their performance in general.
Match Point has developed a quality hospitality experience that is not just for devoted cricket fans. Cricket Scotland now offers an effective business entertainment proposition which has spread in popularity through word of mouth, big-name games and a fully integrated sales campaign by Match Point.
The winners of the Marketing Society Star Awards will be announced at a black tie gala dinner at the Old Fruitmarket Gallery later this year in May.
