The 17th National Conference on Building Commissioning is returning to the Pacific Northwest. Held at the Seattle Sheraton July 3-5, 2009, NCBC unites energy efficiency and green building design experts with construction and operation industry professionals to talk about the latest trends and technologies that make commercial buildings work properly and efficiently. Registration is now open for this industry leading conference, and a discounted price is offered to those who register before May 8, 2009.

Energy efficiency and high performance buildings are hot topics these days, and during these uncertain economic times, energy savings are more important than ever. The recent approval of the federal stimulus package, known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), is helping place energy efficiency in the forefront of economic growth, environmental conservation and job creation. The full conference agenda can be viewed online. The agenda offers actionable information to architects, building owners, commissioning providers, engineers, facility managers, contractors, policy makers, utility planners, students and more.

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance is the major sponsor of NCBC 2009, where More than 70 speakers and 400 conference attendees are expected to gather for sessions that focus on advanced technical topics, market strategies and industry standardization in the new energy economy. In addition to the three-day symposium, pre-conference workshops on Tuesday, June 2 will offer hands-on learning about pneumatic controls as well as insight into the LEED® New Construction certification process. “Analog Lessons for a Digital World” will focus on the fundamentals of pneumatic controls, including operating principles, application considerations and hardware. The associated lab session will allow attendees to try out pneumatic demonstrators themselves. An afternoon workshop titled, “Commissioning LEED®-NC for New Construction Projects” will explain the building commissioning process as required by the LEED® New Construction certifications process and will provide information on commissioning costs and benefits, as well as resources available to projects.

An exhibition held during the first day of the conference provides an opportunity to meet the commissioning providers and tools manufacturers that help reach commissioning and green building goals.

PECI, the conference host and organizer, is a registered provider with the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Continuing Education System program. Conference attendees may receive education credits based on their individual session or workshop attendance.

For further information on NCBC, including details on sponsoring and exhibiting at the conference, email ncbc[.]peci.org.
