Safexpress Pvt Ltd, the ‘Knowledge Leader’ of the Indian Supply Chain and Logistics Company, has announced the launch of its largest state-of-the-art Logistics Park in Nagpur today. Spanning over a massive area of 11,90,000 square feet, this ultra-modern Logistics Park will be providing cutting edge Cross-Dock trans-shipment and 3PL facilities to all its clients.
This announcement comes in the wake of a ‘Warehousing Revolution’ happening in the country. Leading this Warehousing Revolution from the front, Safexpress is in the process of developing 32 ultra-modern Logistics Parks at key industrial hubs.
Speaking on this occasion Mr. Vineet Kanaujia, GM – Marketing, Safexpress said, “We will be creating 5 million square feet of additional warehousing space across the country in the next couple of years, adding to our already existing warehousing space of 5 million square feet. Once ready, these Logistics Parks will totally redefine the way Supply Chain functions in the country today.”
He further added, “There is a huge growth opportunity for the warehousing business in India. Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are one of the major driving forces for Warehousing business in India. Rising investment in infrastructure, growth in organized retail business and the Central Government’s decision to cut excise duty rates for manufacturing goods would further boost the demand for Warehousing business. A large number of upcoming SEZs have necessitated the development of Logistics Parks for the domestic market as well as for global trade.”
Mr. Kanaujia further highlighted, “The demand for high-tech ultra-modern Warehouses will grow exponentially in coming years. With the phasing out of Central Sales Tax (CST) by 2010, Manufacturers will readily outsource their warehousing requirements to the Third Party. This will help the Manufacturers to save costs and to focus on their core business.”
Nagpur is fast emerging as a promising Logistics hub in India. Nagpur is the epicenter of the Indian geography making it one of the ideal locations in terms of Supply Chain and Logistics. The city is the converging point of the country's Railway and Road network and lies within 750-1,250 km of almost all major consumption and industrial centers in India. Currently, Nagpur is witnessing an economic boom as "Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN)" is being developed. MIHAN will be used for handling heavy cargo coming from various parts of India as well as rest of the world. All the above factors make Nagpur as one of the highest potential destinations for the Indian Supply Chain and Logistics Industry.
Speaking about the Safexpress Logistics Park at Nagpur, Mr. Kanaujia said, “This newly launched setup is our largest facility in the country, spread over a land area of 11,90,000 square feet. Keeping in mind the potential that Nagpur offers today, and envisaging the tremendous growth opportunities available in the city in the near future, we have made an investment of such a colossal scale.”
Adding further, he said, “Since we provide ‘time-definite’ deliveries, therefore this Logistics Park will be operational 24X7, 365 days in a year. We have taken a special initiative to make our Logistics Park eco-friendly. Special emphasis has also been made for safer and smooth movement of goods within the Logistics Park.”
The vast space of Safexpress Logistics Park provides for an uninterrupted and unidirectional flow of inbound and outbound movement enabling higher levels of efficiency and shorter turnaround times. The Logistics Park enables loading and unloading of over 100 vehicles simultaneously to ensure smooth and uninterrupted movement of goods.
Talking about the company’s expansion plan at the time of Economic Slowdown, Mr. Kanaujia said, “For the Indian Economy to bounce back swiftly from the present Economic slowdown, Supply Chain & Logistics industry has a pivotal role to play. Companies will need to either remodel or modify their Supply Chains in order to succeed in the present turbulent times. And for that, Companies will require Warehousing support from the top Supply Chain players like Safexpress.”
Mr. Kanaujia concluded by announcing that, “Safexpress is developing world-class warehousing in various cities including Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. More than a dozen of our Logistics Parks are under various stages of development and would be ready within 2009.”
With phasing out of CST from next year, development of SEZs and FTWZs (Free Trade Warehousing Zones), growth in Manufacturing and modernized Retailing, Warehousing will play an ever important role in the Indian Supply Chain industry.
