Chloride, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of UPS systems and services, today announced that colocation and managed hosting specialist Node4 has installed Chloride’s 80-NET 200kVA UPS units within its new Wakefield DC3 data centre, in order to ensure maximum uptime and support for all its clients’ hosted applications.
Founded in 2004, Node4 focuses on providing leading hosting, colocation and communications services. By investing in core technologies, Node4 has been able to provide state-of-the-art solutions to organisations including: Ennstone Thistle Ltd, VW Parkway, Watford Football Club and Townscape Products. The new Wakefield data centre provides a total capacity of 450 racks, capable of supporting the multiple applications required to run a modern 21st century business. The new data centre is scheduled to open in Spring 2009.
“Although we are a young organisation, we provide a world class service to our customers,” says Node 4’s Managing Director, Andrew Gilbert. “Our new data centre is designed to specifically address the market’s demand for quality data centre space and will meet our clients’ most demanding requirements.”
Data centres sit at the core of businesses of all sizes, and an increasing amount of companies now choose to outsource their hardware and applications to achieve cost savings in the current economic climate. So it is vital for data centre providers to ensure that purpose built facilities and technologies are supported by a resilient and reliable UPS system to ensure continuous access to clients’ applications. Node4 has made an important investment to ensure continuous uptime by deploying three of Chloride’s 80-NET UPS units.
The 80-NET UPS System from Chloride draws 20% less input current than a standard UPS system, which reduces switchgear ratings and cable sizes required, further minimising generator ratings whilst maximising the usable power from the power supply. By delivering energy efficiency of up to 98%, the 80-NET UPS system helps businesses such as Node4, to reduce operating costs over the life of the UPS system. In addition, the unique UPS system topology proposed by Chloride’s system designers leads to significant energy savings, ensuring best value for Node4 customers.
“We are looking to provide 99.999% availability to our data centres for both existing and new clients,” adds Gilbert. “We have deployed Chloride’s 80-NET solutions to help us achieve this figure, and to provide the resiliency and reliability of services that our clients have come to expect from Node4. I am confident that, with the quality of the solutions from Chloride, our new data centre will be a great success.”
“We are delighted to be working with an innovative organisation such as Node4,” says Chloride’s Technical Support Manager, Rob Tanzer. “Data centres are vital to a successful business, and many end user organisations are seeking cost reductions in the current climate. Node4 is delivering excellent added value to end users and we are happy to play our part in driving down the costs in this vital area.”
