The website, developed by Maine-based web firm Hall Web Services, shows artist news, in-depth artist profile pages, and upcoming show information, as well as informing bands about Six Star Promotions' range of band marketing services.
"We built the site so that it would be easy to manage and grow," said Jonas Levasseur, Vice President at Hall. "We used a combination of static pages optimized for search and dynamically managed pages using Wordpress. The Wordpress platform will allow Six Star Promotion to manage artist profile pages, photo galleries, upcoming shows, and news in an easy and search-friendly manner."
The unique combination of static and dynamic pages allows for pages for new artists to be added on the fly and updated by Six Star Promotion staff without needing a knowledge of HTML or PHP coding. Wordpress, a popular open-source blogging platform, was chosen for the project due its flexibility, range of add-on plugins, search engine friendliness, and ease of use. Wordpress was heavily modified to act more like a Content Management System (CMS) than its out-of-box blog behavior.
The result is that bands get a one-stop portal for sharing their multiple social media profiles (Facebook, Twitter, last.fm, MySpace, etc.), photographs, singles, and upcoming show/touring dates. Booking agencies and venues can use the site as a source of information on prospective bands and request bands on the site online.
Visit the new site to read reviews and interviews of bands, hear sample tracks, see photos and connect with fans using Facebook and other social networks. Bands can learn more about services offered by Six Star Promotion by filling out the services request form located on the website.
