The American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine (AAUCM) is a national organization which represents thousands of physicians who practice urgent care medicine in various clinical settings throughout the United States. The purpose of the AAUCM is to contribute to the field of urgent care medicine in the areas of professional growth, scientific and medical research, and medical education, all to improve the overall quality of medical care. Our mission is to advance the profession of urgent care medicine by elevating its standards through education, basic and advanced training, and to encourage physicians to seek board certification in urgent care medicine.
The AAUCM (aaucm.org) is the only organization recognized by the American Medical Association that represents physicians who practice urgent care medicine. A proud member of the Specialty and Service Society of the AMA, the AAUCM has been awarded a Self-Designated/Practice Specialty for use by physicians practicing urgent care. In addition, the AAUCM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide its own continuing medical education. The American Board of Urgent Care Medicine, the certifying body of the AAUCM, is the only organization in the U.S. functioning to certify properly qualified candidates in the specialty of urgent care medicine.
