Artist John Palmer will showcase his Texas art series at his 1218 Heights Boulevard Gallery & Studio on Saturday March 21, 2009 from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. Palmer, a fifth generation Texan and a third generation Houstonian, has no greater pleasure than using his artistic talent, taking inspiration from this great state and combining those to produce a visually spectacular collection. Palmer, known for his breathtaking abstract works on canvas, has used the inspiration of Texas state pride to take his art to the next level. Combining his abstract style with realistic and surrealistic imagery from the great state of Texas, such as livestock, ranch land, the Gulf Coast, highways and flowers, among others, the pieces all will invigorate the spirit of any true Texan.
John Palmer says of his Texas series, “Rarely have I been so impassioned with the creation of my art as I have been with this series. Going through family photo albums, discussing my family history with my mother and visiting Texas ranch land has inspired me to produce this highly personal and significant body of work.” Asked about his favorite piece John Palmer remarks, "I cannot deny that my favorite piece in the series is inspired by a photograph of me as a young boy as I was leading my horse 'Blue' back to stable. Bringing brush to canvas while being visually charged from that old photograph truly put my soul into the art."
John Palmer’s Texas series will:
• Premier to the general public on the last weekend of Houston’s Rodeo, March 21, 2009;
• Offer an exclusive preliminary special collector viewing on the Thursday evening preceding the show, March 19, 2009;
• Showcase 7 original canvas pieces and 25 original paper pieces;
• Draw inspiration from his Texas roots; and
• Have many notable Texans in attendance to support John Palmer.
